Book Review: Forever by Monica Murphy (Friends * 3)

When I first saw the book, I was excited. I remember liking the series a lot but nope, I don't remember what happen to the two books before that.

Now, does it still means that I really like the books if I cant even remember the plot before this?

Anyways, I did a quick refresh on the previous two books.

I read the first page of first book - Just Friends. hmm.. everything came back in place. I remember really liking all the dramas between Em, Dustin, Livvy and Ryan. Truth to be told, I kinda wish the second book to be still about Livvy and Ryan. Seeing that I have remembered the first book, I went straight to the second book - More Than Friends.

The book about Jordan Tuttle and Amanda Winters. OK.. I don't remember the ending. Fine, let's do a quick read about it. 
I should really write reviews on both books but going back to it after knowing the ending seems meaningless.

I am ready for Forever now (Yep, I finished More Than Friends in 3 hours. Bravos for the real quickie).

Now, Forever.

How should I start?

I think I will summarize it this way,

I like Tuttle then I hate him then I like him again then I hate him again.

"Make up your mind!" 

Well that's for me and him.

Gosh, towards the end, the first thing that I thought of was, why do I even bother reading this. I should have known the ending based on the title - Like "FOREVER"??? Duh..

Anyways, I bear with it cause I am curious about Ryan and Livvy.

A note to Monica Murphy, Can I have a better understanding on Ryan and Livvy's situation please? You know I really wish I could dig in and see what is it that is in Ryan's mind? Like can I know more about him? Is he really this self-obsessed and did he even like Livvy in the first place?  

 Next question, why is the third book is still about Amanda and Tuttles? They are like so boring.. Amanda is always obsessed about how hot Tuttle is and Tuttle is always thinking that he is not good enough for Amanda but in reality, what is so good about Amanda? She is so judgy and I don't really see her being very smart like how everyone else describes her to be. I would really rather have the third book to be about Em and Cannon.

It really feels like "Forever" is a book which are made up of large supporting cast and while they are giving the spotlights to the main characters, these supporting characters have so many other important plots taking place in the background but all their actions leave us hanging and wanting more.

How did Em and Cannon know each other?

How about Blake and Kyla *Dropping the bomb about Kyla's past hurt us *literally* but then that's it, we will leave it there and there will be no follow-ups until like maybe the next book if there is one*

I really want to like this book cause I really like the first and are OK with the second (cause Jordan and Amanda are still fresh and intriguing at that point of time) but nope, I don't think this book do it for me. Probably because my expectation is high on this series?

Some notable moment in the book - I like the one where "Jordy" make the relation with Closer, the Chainsmoker songs because he drives a Range Rover. That got my hyped somehow and I can't even explain why..

Oh.. and I kinda like the cover, so additional stars for that..

Book Review: Until Friday Nights by Abbi Glines (The Field Party * 1)

Entertaining.
That is the first word that came to my mind after completing the book.
I like how fast paced the book is but truthfully, it should stop right after they got together and skipped whatever that is in between then continued on to the news of Maggie's dad.
The part where Maggie suddenly realized that their relationship is unhealthy because West is too possessive is truly unnecessary.
Everybody knows that they are gonna make up eventually and truth to be told, West has done nothing impressive to gain back Maggie's trust (which is not important apparently since Maggie is still gonna accepts him anyway).
The story line is predictable but Abbi's writing makes the story bearable and it is definitely an easy read.
I will always try to pick up some memorable quotes/messages in every book I read but it is a bit hard in this book. There are a few big messages that Abbi wanted to bring out like the real reasons behind the way Maggi protects herself after going through that life-changing event, how she finally thought through and are willing to open up and how or ways to face death whether it being a fast murder or when it is a slow bed-ridden ones but none of this messages were written in a way that is memorable enough to be etched into my hearts.
There wasn't any moments that makes my hearts clenched nor any tears were shed even when there are so many events that could lead to that (mind you, I usually cry very easily).
Like I mentioned previously, this is an easy and quick read. If you are looking for a book that is mind intriguing or experience dramatic/roller-coaster kinda feelings, you should probably skip this book.
It was my second read at the time this review was written.
Reading it for a second time was to refresh my memory of the other characters before starting the second book.
Yep, now, I am so ready for "Under The Lights"

Book Review: Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

YES, I know I am a slow poke. The hype of the book was long gone and it is now replaced by the anticipation towards the movie with two of almost everyone's favourite actors - Khaleesi (Emilia Clarke) and Finnick Odair (Sam Claflin). Well, being just a typical trend follower, I gotta catch up with the book before the movie officially premiered.

Rating: 4.20/5.00

It is a decent book overall. 

It was good because I was crying non-stop through significant amount of scenes.
I also like the fact that Jojo included POV of some other characters in between (If only she could include more POV of Will) - Gotta admit that it was tiny bit of tiring to be prancing around Lou's mind all the time. Therefore, the change of scenery with different random POV is indefinitely refreshing. 

It is undeniable that this story is beautiful but I just somehow could not relate much to the chemistry between the two protagonist. It would be just so much greater if Jojo actually includes more of those witty conversation between Will and Lou instead of just describing it. I guess I was hoping to live through their romance by participating in their comebacks. Another part that got me cringing about this story is towards the end, when Will expresses his inability to accept her love, all Lou could think about is that she is not enough for him. Oh, Come On, is she that thick or just pure selfish? I would have expected her to understand all that he has been going through after taking care of him for so long. It is all right for her to have hope after doing all that she has done but could she just not understand how hard was it for him to stay that way when he was all so glory before the accident?

Don't get me wrong, I love Jojo's writing (even with the all complains above). All the description of emotional hardships faced by Will always got me crying like a baby. I was always imagining about how would I feel if I am in his shoes and could relate almost instantly. I was just hoping that she could probably be a little bit more precise with certain details of the plot (those conversations that leads them into their love). I know it is not easy at all to write a book and I have no rights to complain but it is just some opinion that *I hope* every girl would like to express after reading a book so decent. To be exact, I think I was just so in love in Will that I hope the girl that walks towards the end with him is a weeny bit more considerate and selfless.

From my review above, it is obvious that I actually supported Jojo's decision to make Will die with all the dignity that he wants.

I would have also chosen the same path. Will is lucky that he is born in a family so loaded that they do not have to struggle to help him with all the medical expenses. If Will is not born with the silver spoon, this whole story would be an even bigger tragic but likewise, if he is not rich enough to lead his previous life, I would probably not look up to him with such admiration. The one lesson in life that not everybody will realize would be life is a struggle no matter if you are rich or poor. Stop blaming and live your life.

There is one line that I really like from the book:
 “You make it sound so simple.”
 "It is simple,” he said. 
 “The thing is, it’s also a lot of hard work. And people don’t want to put in a lot of work.”

Now, I really hope that the movie would be good. Emilia is always a bit more of the exaggerated type of actress (judging by the trailer and after watching Terminator and GOT) but I would still give it a try. Maybe (there is a possibility), I would hate Lou less in the movie. *Fingers Crossed*.

Conclusion:

Do read the book cause it is good. It is just the female protagonist that got on my nerve some times but no one is perfect in real life. That just shows how different is the book from our all time fairy tales. There is a sequel to the book titled "After You". Given that Will is now dead and I am not a big fan of Lou, I think I will skip that book for now but I might pick it up by the time the sequel is made into movie. Anything is possible.
